The inner-Sydney Sussex Hotel has an iconic heritage facade that’s hard to miss. Located in the heart of Barangaroo, the original wharfside hotel has a secret hidden from the ground below: an incredible rooftop bar.
Sydney’s changeable weather meant the space required shade from sun and light rain to extend its use year-round.
We selected Helioscreen Cassette Folding Arm Awnings to cope with the high wind rating required by the rooftop location, as well as provide long-term strength of frame and durability of fabric.
Frames were custom powder coated in Dulux Mangrove Satin to match existing decor.
From site visits we recommended overlapping of materials to provide best shade and coverage for the rooftop space.
The awnings are operated using Somfy motorisation via a four channel wall remote and automated wind sensors.
The entire project was delivered on time and to budget, and has brought significant extra comfort to this stunning venue.
