Generous windows, earth-toned interiors and a pared-back, mid-century modern sensibility are the hallmarks of this Cabarita apartment. With strong sunlight on the apartment throughout the day, durability, UV control and heat management all shaped the design approach.
Here’s how we created a look that’s soft, unobtrusive and aligned with the natural-material palette.
Balancing natural textures, durability and light control
Natural fibres, tactile weaves and soft wave lines were selected to sit comfortably within the apartment’s aesthetic. Sheers were chosen for their gentle filtering effect, allowing the warm tonal palette to remain visible without glare, while blockout layers supported deeper privacy in the bedrooms.
In the living area, a single pair of wave sheers in Cavalier Salt on white 6840 tracks introduced softness while maintaining the apartment’s clean lines.
The bedrooms required a deeper combination of privacy, light blocking and daytime flexibility. In the master, two pairs of blockout-lined wave curtains in Sirocco Natural were paired with two sets of Cavalier Salt sheers, all running on a double wall-mounted 6840 track. A roller blind in Visualweave Ice supported sun control during the brightest hours, ensuring comfort without heavy visual bulk. The second bedroom featured Cavalier Salt sheers and Multi White blockout curtains, making it suitable for guests or family while keeping the material palette consistent with the rest of the home.
For the study, four white Basswood Shutters with 89mm blades and a 50/50 split tilt provided precise control and long-term durability. They suited the room’s dual purpose as a workspace and spare room, offering crisp lines and reliable performance under strong daily light.
A cohesive, pared-back finish
Across the apartment, the window furnishings formed a unified visual language of soft wave lines, natural textures and warm neutrals. Every room benefitted from tailored light control while maintaining the same calm, mid-century-inspired atmosphere.
With durable materials, premium hardware and thoughtful layering, the final scheme provides the owners with long-lasting comfort and control. The apartment now transitions smoothly from bright daytime living to restful evenings, all within a grounded, relaxed aesthetic that will age gracefully.
