  1. Libby Winberg – @libby.winberg

With a design philosophy based on respecting the architecture and environment, Libby knows Sydney’s moods well. She believes at its most fundamental level your home has to be a space that is loved and lived in and you can see this ethos in her timeless, considered design – and amazing  taste in window furnishings!

2. Carmen Parker – @cpstyling

Sydney-based interior designer and stylist Carmen Parker had a whole career before the pull of design and styling became too strong. She stepped into a whole new life based on the strong belief that both functionality and aesthetics can be achieved in equal measure when renovating and decorating your home. Carmen says “gone are the days of sacrificing practical solutions for your home in the name of beauty,” and we wholeheartedly agree.

3. Tamsin Johnson – @tamsinjohnson

Tamsin Johnson describes herself as “interesting, timeless, comfortable, unique, functional and natural”. And truth be told, she is brilliant at combining the antique with the contemporary, adding a splash of colour and creating a truly unique space. Perhaps it’s her childhood, growing up as the daughter of an antiques dealer, that inspired her ability to combine pieces from all different decades to ensure a beautiful, and liveable, home.

4. AP Design House – @apdesignhouse

Alexandra Ponting founded AP Design House with the key philosophy that “timeless design is an effortless balance of comfort and beauty”. She prides herself on creating thought-provoking interiors that combines casual elegance, warmth and character while listening to her clients, identifying their personalities and requirements and then working to that aesthetic.

5. We Are Triibe – @wearetriibe

Jessica Stewart and Christina Symes have been friends since they were 14. They’re also the folks behind We Are Triibe – a design business that creates both products and spaces for like-minded people. In an interview with Assembly Label, the women explained that their interior design studio embraces the idea that our physical spaces have a “profound impact on our health and wellbeing”, so they seek to create inspiring and liveable spaces that focus on what they refer to as “environmental psychology”. According to their website, they create spaces that are “warm and harmonious, relaxed and timeles, with subtle details that give reverence to craftsmanship”.

6. The Stables – @the_stables_

Warm and homely, muted colour palettes and lots of natural elements. That’s the vibe of The Stables, run by Catherine Heraghty alongside a team of dedicated designers. For The Stables, it’s all about “unique design solutions that are both beautiful and functional”. The phrase “coastal aesthetic” is a pretty apt term to use when scrolling through the company’s instagram feed and website. The Interiors Addict described it perfectly, when they wrote “a tranquil, accessible and stylish Instagram feed”, showcasing the spaces the team has designed that, according to Catherine, utilises natural light, airy spaces and softer colours, as well as gorgeous textures.

7. Kelle Howard – @kellehoward.co

A rule-breaking stylist. Sounds intriguing. For Kelle Howard, her personality is at the heart of what she does and how she does it, which is why and how her carefree, down-to-earth character breathes life into the spaces she designs. As she says on her website, she “craves freedom, connection and feeling alive” which is what she wants her clients to feel too. So how does she create this? By using raw materials like rendered walls, exposed concrete and timber, and plants. Lots of plants. But, she says, she always leans on the client and what they want to experience in their space, finding the perfect marriage between their personal style and her niche aesthetic.

8. Haus of Cruze – @hausofcruze

The vibe brought by husband-and-husband duo Az & Jamie is fresh, bright and relaxed, with lots of greenery. But, Haus of Cruze is big on creating a feeling – not just a photograph to show the world. What’s awesome about their website, and in particular their Instagram feed, is just how much their story is front and centre. They truly show the personality behind the brand, giving clients insight into the team and why they do what they do.

9. Monica Bean Interiors – @monicabeaninteriors

Monica Bean comes from a family of creatives, so she always knew she’d be doing something in the design field. Her aesthetic is sleek but she’s not afraid to add some pops of colour here and there, whether it’s cushions, a throw or even a feature chair. If the pictures are anything to go by, Monica definitely knows how to make a house into a home, which is ultimately, what we all want, using loads of wood, utilising the natural light and embracing a relaxed, effortless and genuine style.
